Meet the Team
Dr. Rastegar completed his undergraduate work at San Diego State University, and earned his doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tuffs University in 1993. Since 1993 he has been in private practice and was active in the Rotary and the La Jolla chamber of commerce. Through extensive ongoing continuous education, Dr. Rastegar remains at the forefront of dental advances. In his free time he enjoys sailing, skiing, mountain climbing, and is learning to be a pilot. He is involved in many community activities and is currently writing a book titled “The Pathway to Life.”
Tara Mahdavi: Dental Assistant
Born and raised in San Diego, Tara attended Concorde Career College where she received her dental assistant diploma. She joined our team in 2024.
Vanessa Montgomery: Dental Assistant
Born and raised in San Diego, Vanessa attended Concorde Career College where she earned her dental assistant diploma. She has been working with us since 2021.
Erina Stevens, Dental Assistant and Japanese Client Coordinator
Originally from Japan, Erina started working with us back in 2015 to assist with advertising to local Japanese clientele. With her fluency in Japanese, Erina acted as the communicator between Dr. Rastegar and the local Japanese community. She eventually shifted over to her current position as a dental assistant.
Yuka Kanaya: Receptionist
Also originally from Japan, Yuka started working as a receptionist at Smile Makeover Center in 2020, shortly before the pandemic hit.
Jeannie: Registered Dental Hygienist
Jeannie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1991 from The University of Colorado, Denver. She maintains her license in both California and Colorado. She is up to date with the latest technologies through continuing education. Jeannie has been with our practice since August 2001. She is committed to providing our patients with the highest standard of care available. She educates her patients by stressing the importance of maintaining healthy gums and teeth. Jeannie resides in sunny San Diego with her daughter, her cat JoJo and her dog Mr. Noodles.
